Antibody testing is used to detect the antibodies an infected or exposed person’s body creates in response to the COVID-19 virus. This point-of-care lateral flow immunoassay test detects IgM and IgG antibodies against the COVID-19 virus in human blood, detecting patients at different infection stages, typically 5-7 days after symptoms first appear. It does not detect the COVID-19 virus itself, but the antibodies produced to fight the virus. Our antibody test produces results within 15 minutes as opposed to days or weeks for nasopharyngeal swab tests.
- IgM provides the first line of defense during viral infections, followed by the generation of adaptive, high affinity IgG responses for longer-term immunity and immunological memory.
- The detection of IgM antibodies tends to indicate a recent exposure to COVID-19, whereas detection of IgG antibodies indicates a later stage of infection
Workplace testing is only effective if results are correctly reported and interpreted. Our guide below helps business leaders make informed decisions based on data.
